Grandpa left us today, Saturday, 5th October, 1605hrs.
My sickly Grandpa left us, peacefully.
He chose the timing where we were not allowed to stay by his side as the nurses attended to his needs, and left.
We were told to be happy, because it ends his years and months of suffering. And grandpa is of age. He left us at the age of 88. It's considered a good number in Chinese beliefs.
But losing someone we love dearly, isn't something that we can cheer up so easily.
We'll definitely miss him, it seems like only yesterday was Chinese New Year and he join us grandchildren for rounds of Mahjong. I've missed him chasing us home as it was late. I miss his kind smile, him sitting at his usual spot reading newspaper, miss him at the dining table eating dinner with us, miss him popping by our house buying us packet of chicken rice without any notice, miss those days whereby he would pass us stacks of white card and asked us to help him fill in the details so that he'll be able to go Malaysia easily.
My fondest memory as a kid was looking forward to weekends, as we cousins get to gather together at grandparents place, playing and just chilling around.
Those days with Grandpa around were never coming back, but they are deeply etched in our memory and heart. They are the best days throughout my whole 21 years of life.
Even till days before, you still care and worry about us.
Having you in my life, was a joy and never was a burden.
May life up there be a smooth and enjoyable one, eased from all the sufferings.
You still live in us.
Love you, Grandpa.
