late night thoughts

the start of 2017 was filled with changes.

i've embarked on a new career journey, something that i've never dreamed of doing because i've never thought that i would have plucked up the courage to actually even quit the previous company.
which i'm glad i did.

we humans find familiarity, we find comfort in everything around us.

I knew i was way too comfortable in the previous company, hence leaving was something that i only dreamed of doing. but i'm really proud of myself for doing so, for doing something for myself. because afterall, 5 long years of youth in the previous company, i must say it's a huge dedication. even recruiters whom knew about it gave a big wow.

now that i'm in a complete different environment, different colleagues, different working styles and even different industry.
& how time flies, it has already been a month since i've officially started work.

I guess the start is always the toughest, because there aren't any familiar faces, familiar vibes, familiar anything.
you start afresh, completely new and a new you.
you adapt to new working cultures, new colleague's working styles, new datelines, new challenges and new environment. Lucky thing is, we humans are wired to adapt to changes quickly.
But hey, changes aren't necessary bad, that is how we human grow and learn.
We meet new people, new friendship forged, new knowledge gained.
if we continue to stay in our comfort zone, will we ever learn? will we ever grow?

that explains why i'm glad i did step out of my comfort zone, to explore, to experience, to learn new things, to gain knowledge. it's all for a better self than staying stagnant and be contented with it, with no hunger for more knowledge and experience.

can't deny that i do miss the old times, happier times with the colleagues now good friends, happier times when we were so carefree and didn't mind staying late into the night for work, or even worked super horribly hard especially during events. But that shall be the past and be kept as a memory with the previous company. May the good memories and friendships forged overpower those unhappy moments.

past one month with the new company no doubt was tough, because you miss everything you had before. but as time passes by it made things better, as you start to understand more, be it your work or the people around you.
& i'm real thankful for supportive family whom allowed me to take a 2 months break.
and of course and especially my love, for being there constantly and being so encouraging.

I've learned something completely foreign to me previously and am still learning something new everyday. and to me, that is growth. for i've moved from where i was before to something i never thought i will be.

and now onward to second quarter of 2017.
